In early 2024, as part of the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant, the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy (OSCE) contracted with the UW – Milwaukee Office of Sustainability (OoS) to analyze local planning efforts that could contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the state of Wisconsin. The OoS staff read and documented sustainability actions appearing in over 208 local plans including resolutions, climate action plans, comprehensive plans, and Green Tier Legacy Scorecards, among others. Their findings were cataloged into a searchable database, and results analyzed to identify the most common emissions reductions strategies present in the plans. This database, as well as the resulting summary document are available below.
The OSCE will be using the information found in these plans, to help highlight state initiatives that might aid in local implementation of measures, and to help local municipalities and citizens identify what strategies already exist in approved plans for implementation in their communities.
