Wisconsin Climate Action Navigators Network

​The Wisconsin Climate Action Navigators (WI-CAN) Network is a collective action initiative supported by the State of Wisconsin's Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy (OSCE). It's members are composed of community leaders, agency staff, non-profit employees, and more. The Network works to increase the capacity of navigators and their organizations, enhance collaboration across organizations and sectors, and accelerate a Just Transition​ to a net zero Wisconsin by 2050. It does this by:

  • Convening and supporting events for storytelling, inspiration, connection, skill-building and action-planning;  

  • Resourcing collaborative projects with funding and technical assistance and sharing information about funding opportunities;

  • Supporting Navigators in developing and implementing state, tribal, and regional climate action plans.

Relationship Building

​​To build a more effective and inclusive climate movement, the OSCE works to bring change leaders, community members and experts together to share resources, build partnerships and work together. Building capacity via collaboration is our goal.

Resourcing Climate Action

​The OSCE is proud to offer technical assistance and funding to Navigators. These include our recently concluded Community Climate Action Support (CCAS) Fund projects, and Climate Event Support Microgrants.

Climate Action Planning

​​Clear, actionable plans are critical for achieving a Just Transition in the State of Wisconsin. WI-CAN offers space for organizations to explore their role within our statewide climate action plans as well as make their own plans.​

​​WI-CAN History

​​WI-CAN was borne out of the need to conduct meaningful outreach while developing Wisconsin's Emissions Reduction Roadmap. The OSCE wanted input from all corners of the state, especially from those historically excluded from decision-making and planning efforts. Many communities in this state face the brunt of climate impacts while having the least access to decision-making about the solutions—​ we wanted to change that. WI-CAN was created with the intent to reduce these disparities by bringing diverse communities into the climate action planning process. 


Today, WI-CAN is more than a way for the OSCE to seek input from communities. It is a collective working to involve all Wisconsinites​, reduce environmental inequality, and push climate action forward.​

Who are the Wisconsin Climate Action Navigators?

WI-CAN is composed of over 400 individuals representing around 380 organizations from diverse sectors across the state. Of these individuals one will find city council members, organic farmers, DNR staff and more. See how our members are distributed on our membership page!​​

​The Wisconsin Climate Action Navigators Network will be coming together in person for the Second Annual Statewide Gathering! All are welcome to attend!
