The MREA's Energy Coach Program was created to make home energy upgrades more accessible, affordable, and impactful for Wisconsinites. The program recruits and trains a network of Energy Coaches across the state to help homeowners and renters take steps toward energy efficiency, electrification, decarbonization, and renewable energy.
Coaches work with households to provide personalized guidance, answer questions, explore and understand options, navigate rebate programs and resources, translate complex and technical information, create tailored action plans, and provide ongoing support that helps individuals turn recommendations into real projects that benefit their lives and homes. An Energy Coach serves as a trusted, unbiased resource that places Wisconsinites at the center of the process, working to empower individuals to make their own informed energy choices with confidence. Whether someone is interested in lowering their energy bills, improving home comfort, looking for simple efficiency tips, planning for future upgrades, electrifying their home, or exploring renewable energy, an Energy Coach provides one-on-one support along the way.

Funding for this project supported the development and launch of MREA's comprehensive online Energy Coach Course, buildout of a digital coaching platform, and expanded the library of educational resources, tools, and materials available to better support coaches and the households they serve. MREA strengthened partnerships with organizations across Wisconsin to build referral networks, expand access to high-quality energy information, and grow a statewidecohort of individuals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources to help households navigate energy efficiency, electrification, and renewable energy opportunities.
